About the event:
National statistical systems are a crucial part of the state apparatus. They contribute to the collection of information than is then used to elaborate a wide range of policies. Statistical agencies began to be established in the nineteenth century. National trajectories varied, however. This event focuses on the origins of national statistical systems in Argentina, Canada, France, Great Britain and Mexico in a comparative perspective.

Programme:

4.00pm to 4.45pm: Reflections from Jean-Pierre Beaud and Mike Hughes
4.45pm to 5pm: Questions from the audience

Refreshments: tea and coffee will be offered from 1.30pm

Attendance is free and open to all, whether fellows of the RSS or not, but pre-registration is required.
