Monday 03 September 2018, 01:00pm - 05:30pm

Location Cardiff City Hall, Gorsedd Gardens Road Cardiff CF10 3ND

In this Hackathon hosted by Mango Solutions, we want to help demystify what it means to do data science ‘in the wild’ by providing an opportunity to work with open data sets on a challenging problem.
The topic for the Hackathon is UK politics, in which we will be looking at past data on peoples voting patterns and demographics in order to have a go at:
• Visualising the trends
• Building models and predicting turnout at general elections
• Combining existing open datasets to enhance the results of one of the above
To help get people started some examples will be provided in both R and Python, though participants should feel free to use whatever analytic tools they are comfortable with (or that they want to try out!).
If you’ve never attended a hackathon before then don’t worry, this event will make for a great introduction!  Tea and coffee will be provided, along with plenty of support from your fellow hackers.
All you need to do is register for a free place using the link below and bring a laptop and yourself on the day! We will email you instructions a week prior to the hackathon.
