This is a copy of a presentation I made recently to the Highland and Edinburgh local groups, in which I try to tell some of the history of the SDGs and explain the opportunities for statisticians which are currently arising. I have added a summary of my speaking notes, so that hopefully it makes more sense. In a lot of cases, the notes for slide X lead you into slide X+1.

I would be interested in your views, especially if there are any glaring errors!
