The UK Data Service is launching an Innovation Fund and welcomes project ideas to help it to drive forward social science research and open up its reach to new communities.

Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, the The UK Data Service is tasked with providing an easy-to-use, innovative and trusted one-stop-shop for users and suppliers of social science data resources available in the UK.

Funds are available to help develop ideas into substantial projects. Up to £150,000 is available for each of a small number of projects and £500k is available for a small number of substantial projects. There will be opportunities to team up with others during the application process.

The organisation welcomes interest from UK research organisations, business, third sector and government bodies as well as individuals, start-ups and SMEs.

A workshop is being held on 21 November 2013 for potential applicants to find out more about the UK Data Service Innovation Fund, eligibility, the application process, assessment criteria and overall timetable. It will also be an opportunity to network and exchange ideas.

Anyone interested in attending the workshop will need to register their interest here by 31 October.
