Theme directors sought for education and publications

Written by Web News Editor on . Posted in Latest call-outs to members

The Society is seeking suggestions for two theme directors for the Education and Publications themes within the Society, starting in 2014.
The two directors will lead and coordinate the work in their respective field and take a strategic overview of the theme, advising and reporting to Council as appropriate. They will work with theme managers to formulate a business plan for their theme, which then forms part of the overall business plan of the Society.
The Society is proactive in the area of education, and it is envisaged the education theme director will chair a committee managing the education and wider statistical literacy activities of the Society.
The publications director oversees the society’s journals and Significance magazine. Work is being undertaken on taking Significance to further international markets and the new theme director would be involved in this exciting project.
Theme directors are given professional support by theme managers and members of Society staff. There will be an opportunity to play a full role in the governance of the society as they are co-opted to Council and will be a member of the Society’s executive committee.
A search committee has been established and they would like people to volunteer themselves or to nominate others. Role descriptions for the post can be found on the Society website.
Please submit any suggestions or applications to Hetan Shah by April 30th 2013.
