Judges sought for RSS journalism awards

Keen to promote good statistical practice in the media? The ongoing success of our Statistical Excellence in Journalism Awards means that this year, we are looking for more fellows to help us judge the Excellence in Journalism awards.

Candidates don't need to be a CStat or even a GradStat (although these are very welcome too); what is important is enthusiasm and an interest in the way in which statistics is communicated. Judging will take place between May and June, and the commitment is likely to be a few hours of reading articles or watching/listening to excerpts and scoring them.

Please note that categories have changed this year; they are now as follows:

  • Regional journalism
  • Investigative journalism
  • Explaining the facts
  • Data visualisation

If you are interested in finding out more, details about the awards are on www.rss.org.uk/journalism-awards. You can register your interest by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. Please register your interest by Friday 10 April.
