Royal Society seeks scientists for 'Week in Westminster' scheme

Applications for the Royal Society's pairing scheme have just opened.

Each year, the scheme pairs 30 research scientists with UK parliamentarians and civil servants. It begins with a ‘Week in Westminster’ in which scientists meet their 'pair' and spend two days shadowing them, taking part in workshops and hearing from invited speakers. Then the parliamentarian/civil servant' visits their scientist's lab to get an insight into the world of research. Participants learn about each other’s work and gain a greater insight into how research findings can help inform policy making.

The 'Week in Westminster' takes place 23-26 November 2015. The scheme is open to all scientists that have at least two years postdoctoral research experience or equivalent research experience in industry and is free to take part. Applications are now open until Sunday 24 May.
