We are seeking a UK-based primary school teacher from amongst our e-teacher membership to join the RSS Education Committee from October 2016.
The Education Committee's three areas of interest are statistical education practice, promoting careers in statistics and developing statistical literacy. The committee's terms of reference (PDF) summarise its role, aims and objectives. The work of the Education Committee is separate to, and complements, our Education Policy Advisory Group. The Education Committee encourages good practice in the teaching of statistics, supports outreach initiatives in schools, oversees the Society’s statistical career promotion activities, and works to improve statistical literacy in adults.
The Committee meets two to three times per year, usually at the RSS offices in London, with additional contributions by email or online. Members will also be asked to assist with projects at other times. The appointment will be until 31 December 2018 in the first instance. Appointments are unpaid, but reasonable travel expenses will be covered, and requests for supply cover will be considered. The Society would value your contributions to improving statistical education and statistical literacy in the UK. You will gain insights into the Society’s work and contribute directly to it.
