Would you like to become a school governor in England?

SGOSS – Governors for Schools is a charity funded by corporate donations and the Department for Education that works with professional organisations and companies in England to encourage staff and members to volunteer their time as school governors.

It highlights how school governors perform a vital voluntary role in education and how a full and diverse governing body is a source of enormous strength to a school. Its vision is for every school in England to have a diverse and effective governing body driving school improvement.

The charity believes that RSS members would make excellent school governors and would be able to significantly influence the quality of education provided, ultimately raising standards and improving the life chances of children. The voluntary commitment of a school governor is around 15 hours per school term.
