BBC Academy offering media training to ethnic minority experts in science and stats

Do you want to share your expertise and knowledge by appearing on television and radio? Are you from a black, Asian or minority ethnic background?

The BBC Academy is organising a day of free introductions to the world of broadcasting to help black, Asian and ethnic minority (BAME) experts feel more comfortable about appearing on TV and radio as expert contributors or presenters. It is looking for individuals with recognised expertise in (among other subjects) science, health and medicine, and finance and statistics.

These events will help boost the diversity of experts in the media and follow the Expert Women campaign which ran in 2013.

The BAME Talent Days will offer participants a range of practical media experiences including session on camera and in a radio studio as well as masterclasses and the opportunity to meet experienced programme makers and industry leaders.

Open to both men and women, the days will be held in London (9 October), Birmingham (27 November), Bristol (29 January 2015), Salford (26 February 2015) and Glasgow (12 March 2015). The deadline for the London applications is Sunday, 31 August. More information is available on the BBC Academy website.
