Nominees can be based anywhere in the world and does not need to be a member of PSI or the RSS. The award will be presented at the Annual PSI Conference’s gala dinner in London on 12 May.
Previous award winners include Phil Woodward of Pfizer (2011), Harry Southworth of AstraZeneca (2012), Björn Bornkamp of Novartis (2013; pictured left) and Craig Mallinckrodt of Eli Lilly who won the award last year.
The award attracts considerable support across the pharmaceutical industry. Frank Bretz of Novartis said the award ‘fosters an environment of developing and implementing innovative statistical methods,’ while Lesley France of AstraZeneca noted that the award helps to ‘increase the knowledge and acceptance of these novel methods’. Stephen Pyke, senior vice president of quantitative sciences at GSK and vice president of the RSS added: ‘You can be sure I’ll be encouraging nominations’.
'Making a nomination is good for the nominee, your organisation and most importantly, for the reputation and benefit of statistics within the pharmaceutical industry,’ commented Byron Jones, who is on the board of directors of PSI.
Further information and a nomination form is available on our main website. Nominations can be made until March 27, 2015.
