Like last year, the awards in 2015 comprise two categories: excellence in official statistics and a special award for best statistical release.
Work must have been carried out or completed between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2014 and must demonstrate excellent communication of results, accessible to a wide array of users. Innovative practices could include use of existing data to respond to previously unmet needs or improve current processes. Credit will also be given for outstanding individual effort or for overcoming obstacles such as political sensitivity or severe timing constraints.
The 2014 award was won jointly by The Ministry of Justice for its Justice Data Lab and the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC - pictured above) for its National Energy Efficiency Database (NEED). The inaugural winner of the 'most improved statistical release' award went to the Children’s Social Work Statistics for Scotland. Further details on the 2014 winners are detailed here.
Nominations are now open and the deadline for entries is 22 May 2015. For further information visit www.rss.org.uk/official-statistics-awards.
