RSS launches campaign for Scottish and Welsh elections

Written by Web News Editor on . Posted in News

The RSS is asking Welsh and Scottish fellows to write to their local candidates asking them to commit to attend a statistics training workshop if elected in the devolved parliamentary elections on 6 May 2016.

These workshops will cover a range of areas including; probabilities, surveys and data presentation. It will be entry-level training, with a specific focus on Welsh and Scottish policy issues, to outline the good use of statistics, and help avoid some of the common pitfalls when dealing with public data sets.

The RSS has drafted some suggested text for residents of Scotland (DOC) and Wales (DOC) to send to their respective devolved Assembly/Parliamentary candidates. The letter for Welsh residents is also available in Welsh.

A list of local candidates and their contact details are available on our dedicated Devolved Elections 2016 page, www.rss.org.uk/2016-election.

The RSS conducted a similar campaign for the 2015 General Election which resulted in 55 elected candidates signing up to statistical training, most of whom attended an RSS-led workshop in parliament.
