We are delighted to announce that Paul Allin has been appointed as the new chair of the Statistics User Forum and the Statistics User Executive, both of which are hosted by the Royal Statistical Society and supported by the UK Statistics Authority.
Paul has been guiding the work of the Statistics User Forum since January 2013 as a member of the Statistics User Executive.
He has been a chartered statistician since 1993 and brings to the role a wealth of experience, having worked as a professional statistician in a range of government departments. He led programmes of statistical development work for a variety of topics including labour market, health and safety, equal opportunities, national economic accounts, and culture, media and sport. His final post was as director of the Office for National Statistics' Measuring National Wellbeing Programme.
His current research interests include the measurement of national wellbeing and measures that go beyond traditional economic statistics such as GDP, and he leads on this Statistics User Forum priority area.
Speaking about the appointment, Paul Allin said: 'I look forward to taking on the Chair for the Statistics User Forum and to continuing to work with the statistics user community. The different constituent parts of SUF have a lot of expertise and experience in the use of statistics, and I am grateful to them for bringing that to the SUF.'
