How it works

The RSS Science Journalism Programme includes two online courses and a pool of scientists and statisticians willing to volunteer as guest speakers at media colleges and newsrooms, to foster greater scientific and statistical literacy in the press.

All the materials developed for the workshops are made freely available, for you to use to improve your own learning, or to deliver training to others.

Journalists and journalism students

As a journalist, you’ll be used to asking questions about the information you come across – about the reliability, the underlying story, the source and the best way to present it.

Our online courses in Science for Journalists and Statistics for Journalists are free to access. You can also work through the presentation slides and notes or watch videos of the course presentations.

We have a volunteer team willing to deliver workshops and talks across the UK. We ask, where possible, that the volunteers’ travel expenses be paid by the host organisation.
